Skate DC 2011 Weekend Schedule
HOTEL GROUP-UP is 30 minutes before skates leave the
White House. GROUP-UP is in Franklin Square on the corner of 14th
& I Streets (go right at the hotel front door). The skate leaves the
group-up area 15 minutes before the
official skate time – please be on time! Skate leaders will skate you to the
White House - please be cautious and skate single file to avoid pile ups.
FRIDAY,
Skate along the
10:30(ish) pm
Late Skate Leaves Hotel (Beginner, 1-2 hours)
Do
an after-dinner skate through city neighborhoods and see some DC
nightlife. Distance = 8 miles
SATURDAY,
9:00 am HOTEL
GROUP-UP
9:30 am Saturday Morning Skate
(Intermediate/Advanced, 3.5 to 4 hours)
This skate is
shorter than we usually put on, but it has some hills. We will take you through Georgetown and past
the Naval Observatory and National Cathedral and through Rock Creek Park. YOU
MUST BE ABLE TO CONTROL YOUR SPEED WHILE SKATING DOWNHILL IN ORDER TO JOIN US
ON THIS SKATE. Distance = 16 miles with HILLS
1:30 pm HOTEL GROUP-UP
1:45 pm Skate to Slalom Competition
(Easy, 15 minutes each way)
2:00 pm Slalom competition brought to
you by SEBA USA
See the best cone/slalom skaters
in the country compete at the Georgetown Waterfront Distance = 4 miles round-trip
4:30 pm HOTEL GROUP-UP
5:00 pm Afternoon Skate Leaves White
House (Intermediate, 1.5 hours)
Short,
sweet, and to the point. Build up your
appetite for dinner and for the House of Brews!. Distance
= 10-12 miles
8:00pm National Beer Patrol presents
House of Brews,
Enjoy tasty
homebrew and the company of your friends at the House of Brews! If you don’t see and hear the announcements,
ask Carl what room we have for the festivities.
SUNDAY,
8:45 am HOTEL GROUP-UP
9:15 am Embassy Skate Leaves White House
(Intermediate, 1.5 hours)
Stretch the legs on a glorious
Sunday morning. We will return to the
hotel in time to shower and check out. Distance
= 7 miles
HOTEL CHECKOUT IS
12:30 pm HOTEL GROUP-UP
1:00 pm Can’t
Get Enough Skate Leaves White House (Advanced, 3 hours)
A
brisk and hilly skate through parts of DC you may have missed on the other
skates. Distance = 18 miles
